How To Make Good Money With Currency Trading

By Steve Halladay

With more and more people looking for ways to earn extra money from home, a lot of people have begun looking into what is known as "forex trading" - the buying and selling of foreign exchange in order to turn a profit. Question is - can you make money?

As I'm sure you know, foreign exchange rates fluctuate. As a hypothetical example, one day each US dollar may be worth $1.10 Canadian dollar while the next day the US dollar is worth $1.12 Canadian dollar. People who are able to accurately predict the movement of currencies and buy in and out of them accordingly can make a lot of money.

So how do people know what currencies to buy and which ones to sell? That's a loaded question! The truth is that the forex market is quite complex. There are several fundamental reasons why a currency might increase or decrease in value. As an example, the Canadian dollar typically moves in tandem with the price of oil. Since Canada is a large exporter of oil, when oil prices drop, there is less demand for Canadian dollars and the dollar drops in value. This is just one of many examples of factors that plays a role in determining the value of a currency.

You can do a lot of research about Forex trading, but just the sheer volume of information can knock you for a loop. Today, though, you can turn a profit in Forex trading without having to do a lot of research.

In fact, many programs have been developed that can spot signals and trends in the Forex market so that you can produce profitable trades without having to do a lot of work yourself. In fact, a lot of professional traders have come up with their own software, along with the help of computer programmers and mathematicians. These programs use data in real-time from the Forex markets so that they see patterns and can let you know when the time is just right to go in on a trade. A lot of work goes into these programs, and the results they produce can be amazing.

Most people who earn extra income by trading in the Forex market use this type of software. This type of software is sometimes called a "Forex robot." A lot of these programs exist out there, so take a look at a few things and keep them in mind before you try to use any of them.

The first thing you should keep in mind is that you should always try out a "demo" account so that you don't have to risk any real money before you know what you're doing. And of course, you should be able to try out the system to see if it works and if you like it and understand it. It should be easy to use, and you can see whether or not it will make you money before you commit to it.

A second thing to keep in mind is that you should look at the price tag. Some of these programs cost thousands of dollars, but for the most part, they're not worth it. A program that costs that much is usually a rip off. That's not to say the program doesn't do what it should, but there is no need to spend that much, at least to start. It should cost you less than $100 to find a good program that can generate you some great profits.

Lastly, look for a money back guarantee. The companies that produce reputable programs aren't afraid to back up their softwares with a guarantee. They know they work so providing a guarantee makes good business sense.

If you've been looking for a way to make some extra money, take a look at foreign exchange trading to see if it's something you might want to do. It's a good and exciting way to make some extra money online if it's something you're interested in. - 23162

Jim Rogers Economic Times Interview

By Jim Faber

Jim Rogers was recently interviewed by The Economic Times. Among the topics covered include the recent rally in stocks, the widening deficit and his recent comments on Sri Lanka. In this interview, Jim Rogers touches on a couple of commodities that he believes will do well in this economy. As investors push oil and gold, Jim Rogers is looking at other commodities such as Silver, Cotton and Natural Gas.

If US unemployment touches the 10%-mark, it would further impact retail sales. How bad could this be for Asia?

I was trying to make a point that if anyone wants to invest in this particular part of the world, the best place would be Sri Lanka. Because it looks like the 30-year war is coming to an end.

Throughout history, if you go to a place after the war ends you usually find everything as very cheap, everyone is demoralised, people are just depressed and there are enormous opportunities if you have energy.

In my view, investing in Sri Lanka in May 2009 is probably a better bet than Pakistan, Bangladesh, India or some of the other countries nearby. Lets hope the new Indian government does something. I have heard wonderful things from Indian politicians for 40 years.

If US unemployment touches the 10%-mark, it would further impact retail sales. How bad could this be for Asia?

In the 1930s, we had a huge stock market bubble which popped. And then politicians started making many mistakes. They became protectionist. They made solvent banks take over insolvent banks and then both banks failed in the end.

At one stage we were inundated with gloomy forecasts, which were further reinforced by the IMF and World Bank. And then suddenly stocks surged " something most were not prepared for. How risky is the market today?

What do you do? No politically-elected government can afford so much pain, unemployment and hardships

The American bond market is already beginning to go down dramatically as people realise that the American government has to sell huge amount of bonds, and secondly, there is going to be inflation, serious inflation, as it was always in the past when you had governments printing huge amounts of money.

Stocks are rising even as fiscal deficit is widening. Somewhere it has to snap

Its going to snap. Later this year, next year, we are going to have currency problems, maybe even a currency crisis. I dont know with which currency " maybe with the pound sterling, maybe with the US dollar, who knows. It maybe with something none of us have at the moment. When you have a currency crisis, stocks will be affected, many things will be affected. It is not sound, whats happening out there in the world.

If the pain comes in 2010, 2011 or 2012, there will be nobody he can blame. Especially, if things go bad later, the opposition will say, wait a minute, 2009 looked good. The next guy is going to say you did it But you are right. Its very difficult for an elected government. You have a newly-elected government in India. Whenever you have a new government they can take some of the pain.

They are doing many of the same mistakes now. Whats different this time is that we are printing huge amounts of money which they did not print at that time. So, we are going to have inflation this time.

What do you do? No politically-elected government can afford so much pain, unemployment and hardships

And rarely do they produce. Its not the first time that the Congress party has been in the power. If they mean it, Indias going to be one of the greatest development stories in the next 20 years. But I dont know if they mean it.

In my view, investing in Sri Lanka in May 2009 is probably a better bet than Pakistan, Bangladesh, India or some of the other countries nearby. Lets hope the new Indian government does something. I have heard wonderful things from Indian politicians for 40 years.

Lets pick on China for a minute. If you sell to Wal-Mart in the US and if you are a Chinese supplier you know there is a problem. And you are going to be suffering. Any company that deals with the West is going to have problems. On the other hand, companies that are in the water-treatment business in Asia will care less if the West disappears. They are too busy making money, too busy going to work everyday. - 23162

A Personal Watershed - Is Forex For You?

By Thomas H. Rivera

Millions of investors are making (and sometimes losing) money in the forex markets around the world. It's a huge opportunity and creates a steady job you can do from the comfort of your own home. We're going to cover the ups and downs of forex trading and how to make it work for you - and give some guidance on whether or not it's the right job for you.

In a nutshell, forex trading is about taking a pair of currencies and their exchange rate; and playing off how that exchange rate varies on a day by day (or month to month) basis. You're not betting on the performance of a company, you're betting on the fiscal reputations of countries. There's less research involved, and you have the advantage that it's very difficult for currency values to plummet as rapidly as stocks can and do (and have, recently).

That said, the opportunities in forex don't allow quite as much growth potential as a stock program can, and forex trading is more vulnerable to inflation and currency devaluation moves by governments. Unlike a stockholder, you don't get a vote (or proxy vote) in the operations of the nation whose currency you buy. Forex trading is a 24 hour a day opportunity to make trades, with a span running from the London open to the Hong Kong close, meaning it spans more than five working days if you let it.

The ability to use leverage means there's a lot of opportunity to make money off of even tiny swings in currency prices. This can pay off handsomely on well executed manual trades, and a lot of the more common types can even be automated.

If manual trading isn't your thing, you can even set up several expert advisors to make your trades for you. In this way, you can make steady gains with your account over a long period of time. This strategy doesn't even require you to know much about the forex market. You can just set them up and forget them.

Forex is a good way to pull in a decent income working from home. It's not the road to automatic easy riches, it's an investment. Like other investments you have to pay attention to it to avoid disasters, and the risk of disasters in forex is as large as the potential gains, especially with leveraged brokerage accounts. Still, it's a good way to make a lot of money working from home with nobody breathing on your neck.

The earning potential for good forex trading starts at about 40K a year, and can easily exceed 500K a year for a decent private investor. We recommend starting out small, and using conservative strategies to get the basics out of the way first. Think of them as training wheels before you start trying to swing 30,000 dollar trades on borrowed money.

If you're the sort of person who lives for being wired on coffee, staying inside for a 14 hour trading day, and staring at a computer screen, forex trading may be for you - even if only temporarily. The real secret of forex day traders is that the successful ones get out of it and retire, and retire early. - 23162

Forex Accounts

By Ahmad Hassam

For trading success, good money management is the key. Many traders ignore this aspect of trading at their own peril and get their account blown in a few weeks of trading. Trading discipline means using a trading system based on money management rules that limit your risk and avoid making trading decisions based on emotions.

Without sufficient capital in your account, you wont be able to make meaningful capital gains. One of the worst blunders that forex traders can make is to trade without sufficient capital. Low capital increases your chances of getting blown out too soon. This does not mean that you should have a lot of capital before you start trading. You need to have sufficient capital in your account in order to take advantage of the movements in the currency markets. Low capital will never give you that opportunity.

Many forex brokers fix the minimum amount required to open a standard account as $2000. However, it is recommended by most of the professional traders that you should start with at least $2500-5000 to get good results. A trader with limited capital is always a worried trader. He is always looking to minimize losses beyond the point of realistic trading. Never ever trade live without practicing on the demo account for a few months. First, try to double your account at least three times in a row on the demo account.

A standard account or a regular account (often also called 100k account), lets you trade a $100,000 standard lot with a $1000 deposit. This $1000 is kept as the margin by the broker. This is a 1% margin. Your account should have more than $1000 if you want to trade a $100k lot.

You can change the margin account to whatever you feel comfortable with. When you open an account with the broker, you must determine what the default margin is. If you start at 2% margin, then it will cost you $2000 to trade one standard lot.

Many brokers try to offer huge leverage to the new trades in order to entice them. You can get a leverage of 200% in most of the standard accounts. Using 200% leverage means trading $200,000 with a $1000 deposit. With this small deposit you are controlling a huge amount. Be careful! Dont use more than 4% leverage while trading in the beginning. Too much leverage is dangerous.

With practice and more experience, you can increase the level of leverage in your trading. Its not that leverage is bad. Its just that you need to understand and learn how to use it. You can only do so with practice.

The mini account was developed to accommodate investors who were looking for diversification of their stocks portfolios. You can open a mini account with a deposit of $300. This small dollar requirement allows many investors to participate in the forex markets who were previously unable to do so.

On a mini account, you have different lot sizes as compared to the standard account. One lot on a mini account means $10,000. You only need $50 to control a mini lot of $10,000. A pip size on the mini account is equal to $1 instead of $10 as on a standard lot.

A mini account is a great way for beginners to practice forex trading. If you lose 100 pips on a mini account, it means losing only $100 as compared to losing $1000 on a standard lot. You can say a mini account reduces your risk by 10%. But it also reduces the amount of profit that you can make. Start with at least $500 on a mini account. - 23162
